I want to get rid of my frown lines. Do I need Botox or fillers?

Botox and fillers reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles but work in different ways and treat different beauty concerns.

Botox

Botox is FDA-approved to reduce the appearance of frown lines (wrinkles in between the eyebrows), crow’s feet (wrinkles at the eyes’ outer corners), and worry lines (forehead wrinkles). These lines and wrinkles develop from repetitive facial movements.

Botox temporarily stops the facial muscle movement that causes the etched-in lines, allowing the skin to relax and smooth out.

What do Botox and filler injections feel like?

Botox and filler injections at Sirota Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery cause only minimal discomfort.

For Botox, Dr. Sirota uses a fine needle for the injections, and the treatment is quick. You could feel a slight pinch during the injection. But the pain is fleeting, and most people tolerate Botox without a topical anesthetic.

Restylane fillers contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that numbs the area during the injection. To keep you comfortable, Dr. Sirota can apply a numbing cream to your skin before your filler injections.

You can expect to see results from your filler injections right away. Though some people see improvements in their look a couple of days after their Botox injections, results usually take a week or more.

How long do results from Botox and fillers last?

Results from Botox and fillers are temporary. Botox usually lasts three to four months, while fillers can last six months or longer.
